Conductorsblog cometh

October 24, 2009

It’s my first post to the Conductorsblog and I am excited (and a just a bit intimidated) about beginning this project.  Our goal for this is to be a place for conducting teachers, students and professionals to come together and talk about issues that interest all of us. Brian and I have been talking about this for awhile and it’s so exciting that we have actually begun.

We are inspired by the great bloggers in the music and orchestra world such as Drew McManus at Adaptistration, Alex Ross at The Rest is Noise, Tim Smith at Clef Notes and our friends who have jumped into the blogosphere as well: Performance Artist Natalia Jaeger, conductors Jason Caslor, Stuart Sims, composer Andrew Ardizzoia, percussionist Bill Sallak and so many more.  Our goal is to be an open source for discussions.  We want to post often and about a wide range of topics.  There are no real restrictions on the possibilities.  The teaching of conducting will be major topic for this blog.  Also, one of our big goals is to start a Living Errata list.  Essentially the Living Errata would be constantly updated by us and by you the reader as mistakes and inconsistencies are found in the parts and scores during rehearsals and performances and then posted here.

Interesting books, editions of scores, out-of-print/unavailable books and scores, conducting texts, any and all are possibilities for discussions.  We also hope to include guest posts from you the reader and from our mentors, friends and colleagues.

We hope you find this site to be a resource and a fun read.  Please Bookmark us and check back often!
