Athough interesting, this short bagatelle of the complicated life of this great transitional composer is not the first time that his predalection for Plantain rum drinks was explicated. Refer to Vol 13 of Crap about Berlioz for Doctoral level Examine Questions. Yuma: Got Tenure Publishing, 1999.

In fact, Berlioz bankrupted his father over his quest to invent the blender. Although he failed , ironically another musician did in fact perfect the modern blender. Fred Waring http://inventors.about.com/library/inventors/blblender.htm Although no proof exists, Waring use of the Dies Irae in his big band arrangements might be traced to the Berlioz Blender.

The popular song “Yes we have no Bananas.” can be traced to a letter from Berlioz to Mendelssohn asking for money to buy bananas and Rum. Although other scholars speculate that the catch phrase had other origins. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yes!_We_Have_No_Bananas Again note the use of the Dies Irae in the 2nd subject of the song. This leads to the Banana Boat Song and its commonly misused lyrics . It is not Dayo Dayo it is Deus Deus!. It uses a theme from Berlioz’s La Mort de Cleopatre

One of the unexplored areas of Berlioz studies is exactly where did he get the ice?
