I don’t know of another American popular musician since Bob Dylan who speaks to the soul of our country more than Bruce Springsteen. The hardest working man in show business gave the keynote address to the South By Southwest Festival Conference in Austin, Texas this year. It has already been making the rounds on the internet, but I think it is so good, so important to any young musician that it should be REQUIRED viewing.
Just know that only watching the following clip, in no way gets you off the hook of watching the whole speech – available here. And if you are an artsist, musician, fan of music, or any kind of human being, and you don’t watch this, then shame on you.
The whole speech is wonderful. He addresses so many ideas that are applicable to all performing musicians. Plus, it gave me a reason to go online and find this clip and remember why James Brown was James Brown.
